Emirates operates three versions of Boeing 777-200.

Emirates operates their 777-300 aircraft in three different configurations. This version operates in a three class layout and reflects the newest configuration and retrofit of this aircraft type. To verify the correct version of this aircraft at the time of booking or at online check-in, you can use these rows as a reference; First Class Rows are Rows 1-2; Business Class are rows 6-11;. First cabin version of the Boeing 777-200 (772) Two class

This version of Boeing 777-200 operated by Emirates is the most common. It offers 346 seats in two classes: business and economy.

Business class consists of 6 rows of seats per 7 in each. The main disadvantage of the seats of the 1st row is close location of the galley and lavatory. These seats are first reserved for passengers with babies as these seats offer bassinet locations.

B777 Emirates

Proximity of the galley and lavatory may also represent problem to passengers of the seats of the 6th row.

Behind the exit row the seats of economy class are located. Economy class may transport 304 passengers in two sections.

First section includes 18 rows of seats. Most of them have 3-4-3 configuration. Passengers of the seats of the 8th row will take advantage of extra legroom. These seats have bassinet locations for passengers traveling with babies. Among disadvantages of these seats: reduced width as the tray tables are built-in the armrests, lack of floor storage during take-off and landing and close location of the lavatory and galley.

Due to missing seats in front the seats 9C and 9H offer extra space for passengers’ legs. However, other passengers and crew members passing by tend to bump into these seats. Among other disadvantages: lack of floor storage during take-off and landing and reduced width of the seats.

The only disadvantage of the seats 12A and 12K are misaligned windows.

The seats of the 26th row have extra storage room behind. However, these seats are less reclining than standard and other passengers tend to gather in the area of these seats while waiting to use lavatories.

The second section of economy class seats is located behind another exit row and contains 15 rows.

Passengers traveling with babies are often seated on the seats 27DEFG as these seats have bassinet locations. These seats offer extra legroom to passengers. But as the tray tables are built-in the armrests these seats are narrower than standard, have no floor storage during take-off and landing. Close location of the lavatories will also be a disadvantage.

Passengers of the seats 28ABC and 28HJK will feel comfortable thanks to extra legroom. As the tray tables are in the armrests the width of these seats is slightly reduced. Also these seats have no floor storage during take-off and landing.

As there are no seats behind the seats 36H and 36C are often bumped by other passengers passing by.

For passengers traveling with a companion will be ideal the seats AB and JK of the rows 37-39. Also these seats have extra under-seat storage space as they are high off the ground. The armrests of these seats are immovable.

Limited recline, proximity of the lavatories and galley make the seats 39AB and 39JK bad seats.

Close location of the galley and lavatory will represent problem to passengers of the seats 40D, 40 G and 41DEFG. In addition the seats of the 41st row are less reclining than standard that is why these seats are considered bad seats.

Second cabin version of the Boeing 777-200ER (772) Three class

This version of Boeing 777-200 may accommodate 290 passengers in three classes: first, business and economy.

First class consists of two rows of seats that have 2-2-2 configuration. So, there are totally 12 angle-flat seats here. All of them are standard. Passengers with infants are often seated on the seats of the 1st row as they have bassinet locations.

Emirates

42 passengers may be accommodated in the business class. The angle flat seats of the business class are located in two sections. All of them have 2-3-2 configuration.

First section has 2 rows of seats. The seats of the 6th row are first reserved for passengers with babies as these seats offer bassinets. Close location of the galleys may represent problem for passengers of the seats of the 7th row.

Behind the exit row the second section of business class seats is located. This section contains 4 rows of seats. The seats of the 8th row are intended for passengers with babies. The noise coming from the galleys and lavatories will cause discomfort to passengers of these seats.

The main disadvantage of the seats of the 11th row is close location to more crowded economy class.

236 standard seats are located in the economy class. These seats are divided into two sections. First sections contains 9 rows of seats per 10 in each. The seats of the 18th row are considered good seats. These seats offer extra legroom and bassinets for passengers traveling with infants. Among disadvantages: reduced width of the seats and lack of floor storage during take-off and landing.

Proximity of the lavatories and limited recline are the disadvantages of the seats of the 26th row.

15 rows of seats are located in the second section of economy class seats. Due to the exit row located in front passengers of the seats 27DEFG will feel comfortable thanks to extra legroom. These seats offer basinets for passengers with babies. However, these seats are narrower than standard as the tray tables are built-in the armrests making them immovable, have no floor storage during take-off and landing, proximity of the lavatories will also cause inconvenience.

In spite of the fact that the seats 28A and 28K have extra legroom, these seats are considered bad seats as have the following disadvantages: other passengers tend to gather in the area of these seats causing discomfort to passengers, passengers of these seats can get cold by the exits during the flight. As the tray tables are in the armrests, these seats are narrower than standard. Also the may be no floor storage during take-off and landing.

B777 emirates business

The seats 28BC and 28HJ are considered good seats as they have extra space for passengers’ legs. But these seats have reduced width, are located close to lavatories and may have no floor storage during take-off and landing.

Due to missing seats behind the seats 36C and 36H are often bumped by other passengers and crew members passing by.

All AB and JK seats of the rows 37-40 are ideal for passengers traveling with partners.

Proximity of the galleys and lavatories is the only disadvantage of the seats 41D and 41G.

Limited recline and close location of the galleys and lavatories make the seats 40AB, 40JK and 41DEFG bad seats.

Third cabin version of the Boeing 777-200LR (772) Three class

The third version of Boeing 777-200 may transport 266 passengers in three class.

First class has 8 open suites that are located in 2 rows per 4 in each. All these suited are standard. The seats 1A and 1K offer bassinet locations.

Business class contains 42 flat bed seats that are located in two sections. First section has 2 rows of seats that have 2-3-2 configuration. For passengers with babies are intended seats 6DEF.

Close location of the galleys and lavatories is the main disadvantage of the seats of the 7th row. The seats 7A and 7K have misaligned windows.

The second section of business class seats has 4 rows of seats per 7 in each. Passengers of the seats of the 8th row will take advantage of extra legroom. However, proximity of the lavatories and galleys may cause discomfort. Passengers traveling with babies are often seated on the seats 8DEF as they have bassinet locations.

The only disadvantage of the seats of the 11th row is more crowded economy class located behind.

Economy class may accommodate 216 standard seats in two sections.

First sections includes 9 rows of seats that have 3-4-3 configuration. The seats of the 17th row offer bassinet locations for passengers traveling with infants. These seats have the following disadvantages: limited legroom, reduced width and lack of floor storage during take-off and landing.

The seats 18A and 18K are missing windows.

Other passengers tend to congregate in the area of the seats of the 25th row while waiting to use lavatories. Also these seats are less reclining than standard.

Behind the exit row the second section of economy class seats is located.

Passengers of the seats of the 26th row will feel comfortable thanks to extra legroom. But as the tray tables are in the armrests the width of these seats is slightly reduced. Close location of the lavatories will also cause discomfort. Lack of floor storage during take-off and landing is another disadvantage of these seats. The seats 26DEFG offer bassinet locations.

Crew member and other passengers tend to bump into the seats 34C and 34H as there are no seats behind.

The main disadvantage of the seats 35AB and 35JK are anchors from the row in front that may cause discomfort.

All A and K seats of the rows 35-39 have some extra room at windows side.

The noise from the galleys and lavatory may be bothersome for passengers of the seats 37AB, 38D, 38G and of the seats of the 39th row. Another disadvantage of the seats 37AB and 39DEFG is limited recline that is why these seats are considered bad seats.


The Boeing 777-300er is the backbone of the Emirates fleet. Over the years the 'Triple-7' has become more than just an airplane, it is now a brand flying the skies all over the world. It is a product that has a great reputation within the aviaton industry and is loved and enjoyed by thousands of passengers every day.

I've had the pleasure of travelling on a lot of Emirates flights throughout the years, including one of the longest direct flights in the world, the EK218 from Los Angeles to Dubai. This same route is also operated by an Emirates A380 Airbus as EK215, making it the longest non-stop Airbus Super Jumbo flight in the world.

In this article I mainly want to show you what the Boeing 777 experience is all about and why it leads the international market. Its First and Business Classes are all about luxury sure, but it's also got an amazing Economy Class that keeps you comfortable throughout some very long flights. Let's get into some more detail!

B777 Emirates First-class


This Emirates flagship carrier is the most popular aircraft in the world, with more than 1,500 of them flying around the world every day. Almost every major airline trusts and utilizes the Boeing manufacturers from Seattle, USA. It's a sturdy workhorse that can fly you halfway around the world without the need to land. Direct market competitors are the A330, A340 and the new Airbus 350 that is expected to join the industry later this year.

B777 Emirates

The Boeing 777 is one of the safest aircrafts in the world. Until the Asiana Airlines crash in San Francisco in mid 2013, there had been no fatalities associated with the Boeing 777. Asiana's two fatalities were the first recorded in its 18 years of operation, and the crash was due to a pilot error and not aircraft issues. The recent Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 which has been missing ever since the 8th of March 2014 was also a Boeing 777, and its destiny is still unfortunately unknown to this day.

ENTERTAINMENT

It's no secret that I love ICE, and no I'm not talking about ice cream but the Emirates entertainment system which is simply known as ICE (Information, Communication & Entertainment). ICE was voted as the best aviation entertainment system in the world in 2013 and 2014 by Skytrax.

You can pick between hundreds of options for movies, music, TV series and games channels. You'll never get bored, and that's a fact! The new screens come in a 16:9 format, are easy to handle and are as responsive as an Apple iPad. The days of your fingers being in pain after a flight because the display simply didn't respond to your wishes are over!

BAGGAGE ALLOWANCE EMIRATES

Emirates is quite generous when it comes to your luggage - 30kg for each Economy traveller. That's not typical as usually other airlines only offer 20kg or less. You better take advantage of it!

FOOD & CABIN CREW

Let's start with the good news - Emirates will not let you starve! The food is super yummy and the portions very satisfying. You are going to enjoy two meals if you fly beyond six hours, mostly lunch or breakfast, depending on what time your flight departs. The cabin crew will serve tea and coffee and are usually quite present during the entire flight offering drinks and cakes etc...

Something that I dislike about Emirates is their cabin crew. Most of the time they can't identify themselves with the airline and its customs and they seem tired most of the time. They seem overworked and are even surveilled by the airline management. I know an Emirates crew member who posted on his personal social media account that he didn't like working on a certain aircraft, said nothing about the Emirates brand, and was immediately fired from his position. In the air, you will get a 'NO' as an answer quite often, mostly from their Asian staff who really lack a basic knowledge of English.

I have also experienced a lot of Eastern European crew in the Emirates team, most who have a massive attitude problem and only start working for Emirates to hook up with wealthy Arabs who are starving for some good times. Overall I think Emirates HR is missing a real sustainable strategic effort when it comes to their cabin crew.

THE ECONOMY CLASS CABIN

A common procedure among Russian cabin crew - facelifts, has also finally arrived within the cabins of the Emirates Boeing 777-300er. Most of their cabins are being refurbished at the moment, including brand new seats and an amazing 16:9 screen in front of you. These screens are super responsive and are easy to handle, and this tool will actually improve the quality of your flight a lot.

Yes, finally a little bit of their 'Hello tomorrow!' campaign is reaching the cabins. The 4:3 screens from 1972 are no longer present. Some Triple 7's may still have the old design but you can be sure that Emirates is trying hard to refurbish them all.

FLAT BED, MINI BAR AND AMENITIES

Emirates has a pretty decent Business Class and perhaps offers the best corporate product in the industry. Apart from the flat bed experience, you will also have your own personal mini-bar, personal storage space and a privacy divider that can turn your seat into a little self-contained pod. Every businessman/woman relies on their laptop and you won't have to worry about your device running out of battery during a flight, due to the in-built seat power supply. You may even get to enjoy the free WiFi on selected Boeing 777 flights.

EMIRATES LOUNGE

Business and First Class travellers are invited to spend some time at Emirates' luxury lounges. You can dine on great food, enjoy the Business Center to catch up with some work or just have a cold beer. The Emirates lounge in Dubai even offers a Spa to its First Class travellers. A limousine service is also included and can be arranged online here, with a so-called 'luxury' Volvo (there is nothing luxury about a Volvo, don't know where they get that rubbish from).


EMIRATES BUSINESS CLASS DINING

Emirates offers you a wide range of healthy and award-winning food. In Emirates Business Class you will be offered a three course meal. There are no paper napkins or plastic cups either, there are linen napkins and silver cutlery of course. The airline from Dubai offers you everything you need to relax to the fullest. Complimentary champagne, a huge variety of beers, cocktails, wines, liqueurs and long drinks. All these amazing drinks are of course not availabe on flights to Saudi Arabia.

If you ever get to fly on an Emirates A380 you should try the SkyBar. It is a real bar open for First and Business Class travellers, and is a great place to socialise. Unfortunately this bar isn't available on the Boeing 777, probably due to the lack of room.

EMIRATES FIRST CLASS EXPERIENCE

Well, if you have the money to book a First Class flight you probably won't be reading my review or won't really care if I say that the pillows weren't fluffy enough. Let me give you guys a little taste anyways. The refurbished Boeing 777-300er have adapted the same First Class cabins you can find on an Airbus A380. You are going to spend your flight in your private suite with flat bed, flat screen and flat cabin crew.

Unfortunately you won't get to enjoy the SkyBar or SkyShower on a 777. But don't worry, you will still be pampered like a king. Emirates has a dedicated First Class lounge and priority check-in. The First Class limousine service is on a luxury Mercedes - definitely better than a Volvo. Yes, every wish will be granted!

BAGGAGE ALLOWANCE FIRST CLASS

40kg for every First Class traveller, but believe me they are not going to reject you if you want to check-in another bag or take an additional carry-on bag...


Emirates 777 Bottomline:

Emirates Boeing 777 has one of the best Economy Classes in the world, that's a fact. Its Business and First Class are also pretty outstanding. It's not a secret that Emirates orders pretty decent airplanes and follows a true luxury strategy.

It's very close to the perfect airplane and if you have the chance to fly on an Emirates Triple 7 then I can tell you that you are going to have a very pleasant flight.

For the America to Dubai flights I recommend that you request a window seat right in the back so you can enjoy the view while flying over Canada and especially Greenland.

Overall the Boeing 777 even beats the Airbus A380 in my opinion. The entertainment system is outstanding, the food delicious and well, the cabin crew is usually below average but that's ok.
